I am a leader focused on transformation—of institutions, systems, and student pathways. My career is built on a pattern of entering complex situations, diagnosing core challenges, and leading collaborative efforts to build stronger, more sustainable futures.

This approach was forged in the crucible of real-world leadership. As an interim community college president, I inherited an institution facing a triad of crises: severe budget deficits, accreditation warning status, and broken transfer pathways. Within this challenge lay the opportunity for a true turnaround. By leading with transparency, making difficult but necessary decisions, and relentlessly focusing on core academic quality, we stabilized the budget, achieved full accreditation reaffirmation, and rebuilt vital partnerships. The outcome wasn’t just survival; it was a foundation for future growth.

My builder’s mindset extends from the institutional to the systemic. At the state level, I engineered workforce development partnerships that aligned education with economic need, creating clear pipelines from the classroom to high-demand careers. In the classroom, as a tenure-track professor, I focus on constructing equitable learning environments and mentoring the next generation of educational leaders.

I believe effective leadership requires a blend of gritty resilience and pragmatic optimism. Personally and professionally, I understand that meaningful progress is often hard-won. This perspective catalyzes a leadership practice that is both steadfast and malleable—one that respects an institution’s history and culture while being unafraid to champion the innovations necessary for its future.

I am dedicated to leading colleges that are more than just sound institutions; they must be vibrant, agile engines of opportunity that empower every student and strengthen the communities they serve.
